Pursuing Prayer
Strategic, united prayer has been the foundation of every great awakening, revival, mission, and church-based justice movement throughout history. Prayer is vital and foundational to everything we do.
Prayer is not a way to earn or enhance God’s love for us, but a way of participating in his healing for us and his kingdom coming through us. As 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, if we humbly pray, he will bring healing and transformation. Our city needs God’s forgiveness, so we pray and repent and seek to partner with God in prayer.
Prayer initiatives and resources
Auckland Prayer Breakfast - an annual gathering to come together as the Church of Auckland to pray our city
Holy Here app - a valuable resource to help enable prayer walking across the streets & neighbourhoods of our city and beyond
Pentecost Prayer Initiative - initiated by our good friends at 24-7 Prayer NZ, an annual nationwide 10-day call to prayer, across churches & denominations & regions
Connecting Leaders
In the midst of so many isolating pressures that come with ministry, we believe no Auckland leader should ever walk alone. Auckland will flourish more when we work together. For our city to be transformed, it requires all of us to play our part, each bringing our unique gifts to the table.
We support local networks of church-based leaders, encouraging them as they support and pray for one another, and equipping them to collaboratively serve their neighbourhoods. We also foster collaboration and carry a wide range of relationships with people of peace, in business, for-purpose organisations, and local and central government.
Multiplying Disciples
Making and multiplying disciples is a direct response to Jesus’ Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). It is a calling we must respond to. We believe one of the most effective ways to multiply disciples in Auckland is to plant healthy new churches, and where needed, replant existing churches.
We long for a thriving, outreach-focused church within easy reach of everyone in Auckland, including the suburbs that will grow dramatically in the next 10-20 years. We long for men & women to be discipled and trained to lead these new and replanted churches. We’re facilitating a learning community to help resource and springboard multiplication in Auckland, and wider across New Zealand.
Serving Neighbourhoods
Auckland is a city of stunning beauty and potential. We are diverse, youthful, creative, intelligent and generous.
But of our greatest resource - our people - too many are hurting. God commands us to love our neighbour, second only in importance to loving Him (Matthew 22:36-40). There are so many opportunities for the Church to work together to love the people of our city. We work with networks of churches assess and meet needs in their communities.
Through One Heart Auckland, we want to multiply the Church’s impact on five pressing needs in our city: homelessness, food insecurity, family violence, youth wellbeing, and social isolation.
